Fars News Agency (FNA) is an Iranian news agency. It was officially launched in Tehran in February 2002 to "promote the principles of the Islamic Revolution and safeguard national interests".
FNA is a privately-owned news agency, but is considered close to the Iranian judiciary. Its managing director Saeid Noubari is a former head of the public relations office of the Tehran Justice Department.
FNA's managing editor Mehdi Fazaeli is also the spokesman of Iran's Association of Muslim Journalists.
In addition to Persian, FNA also provides news in English and Arabic.
