Faroudja
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Faroudja was a company that specialized in very high end home theatre and professional video processing systems and won an Emmy Award [1][2] for its technology.
Faroudja was first acquired by SAGE[3], and then by Genesis Microchip. Genesis Microchip integrated Faroudja's advanced video technology into its video processing IC's (integrated circuits) which are most commonly used in LCD and plasma screen TVs. Genesis Microchip still uses Faroudja branding but stopped manufacturing the Faroudja boxes. The Faroudja boxes are sold now by Meridian Audio.
Faroudja is world famous for DCDi (directional correlational de-interlacing) technology[4][5], and Film Mode [3:2] pull-down technology [6].
