Farm Credit Bank of Texas, based in Austin, Texas, is a wholesale financing institution that is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System. It provides funds and services to local Farm Credit financing cooperatives in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas, and participates in the capital markets.
Farm Credit Bank of Texas is cooperatively owned by these Farm Credit lending institutions, which finance rural real estate, agricultural production, country homes and agribusiness firms. Like other Farm Credit Banks, it generates funds by selling AAA-rated bonds backed by the federal government.
