Farinas Transit Company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Farinas Transit Company is one of the major Philippines public transport companies connecting the Luzon provinces to the national capital in Manila.[1] Primarily a passenger coach bus line, the main Manila terminal is in the Sampaloc district of Manila[2].

Farinas Transit Company is owned and operated by the Farinas family of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, a political family that has served as governors, mayors and councilmen over the course of several generations: most notably from recent news, Ilocos Norte Governor Rudolfo Farinas and Laoag City mayors Roger and Michael V. Farinas. Rival transportation companies in the Ilocos Region are owned and operated by other political families: Singson family and the Marcos family.[citation needed]

Rival transportation companies include Partas, Dominion Bus Lines, Philippine Rabbit and Viron Transit[3]. A national railway network, Philippine National Railways, or Metrotren, provides rail service to the same areas served by agencies like Farinas Transit Company[4].
