Farid Zaland (Persian: فريد زلاند) (also spelled as Farid Zoland & فريد زولاند) is a Tajik composer and singer. He is credited to have written and compose numerous songs for various Persian singers, notably Googoosh, Dariush Eghbali, Hayedeh, Ebi and Moein.

In 1970s he moved to the Persian capital Tehran and after 1979 revolution, with many Persian artists he moved to the US.

[edit] Background

He is the son of Ustaad Zaland and brother to Soheila Zaland, Shahla Zaland and Wahid Zaland. He was also a close friend of Ahmad Zahir and attended high school with the singer. Like most Non-Afghans, Farid is completely estranged (based on oppressing and facism of Pashtuns (Afghans) against Non-Pashtuns) from his native country which also reflect unfairly the name of Pashtuns. He developed a nationalistic sense for the Persian-Speaking population and against the Pashtuns. He is no longer associating himself, as a Tajik and a Non-Afghan, with the country Afghanistan (Land of Pashtuns). He is married to an Iranian woman from Mashad (eastern Iran).
