In the literary works of J. R. R. Tolkien, Faramir Took, later Thain Faramir I is the eldest son of Thain Peregrin I and Diamond of Long Cleeve. Born in the year 1430 of the Shire Reckoning, he married Goldilocks, the third daughter of Samwise Gamgee (one of the Ring Bearers and Faramir's father's old friend). Faramir became 'Took and Thain' in the year 1484. He was named after Faramir, son of Denethor, the Steward of Gondor.
