Far Horizons is an anthology of 11 science fiction short stories or novellas by major authors, who also provide introductions and sometimes afterwords for the stories; it is edited by Robert Silverberg. All of the stories make their first appearance in Far Horizons, but none are truly "original" in a sense, as they are all set in one of the particular author's most popular tried and true fictional universes. The idea was to perhaps cross introduce readers of one writer to the other authors and popular universes—in a word, marketing—grass roots style. It is the science fiction equivalent of Silverberg's (fantasy genre) Legends series.
