[edit] Multi-language FAOL

This template is used on the talk page of the article AIDS where it seems to consume rather alot of space. Would anyone object to the introduction of optional parameters to allow for a number of languages to be linked in a single template... --Oldak Quill 08:25, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

I certainly agree with this proposal, and would welcome any way that can integrate this nicely into the template. violet/riga (t) 23:05, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

I find this request about Template:FAOL very useful. This template is very space consuming and is often removed from talk pages. I support the idea of introducing multiple parameters so no matter how many languages we still use one template. I would also like you to check on a variant of this template I created here that indicates the quality of the article. CG 23:00, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

I updated the template to allow it to list multiple other language versions in a single box. I had to change the wording slightly to facilitate this, as the way it was laid out before would have required the conditional logic to be repeated three times. Existing calls to this template should continue working as I left the existing parameters alone. Additional languages can be added using '|lang2=German|link2=de:whatever', '|lang3=Spanish|link3=es:whatever', et cetera. An example usage of the new format can be seen at Talk:Adolf Hitler. --CBDunkerson 20:22, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Which WikiProject?

Right now it's pointing to Wikiproject Echo, instead of Wikiproject featured articles in other languages. It seems like this should be a simple change to make, yet I don't want to destroy the "esoteric syntax"...should this be modified?--Lkjhgfdsa 20:41, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

WP:FAOL is not a WikiProject. I suggest changing the link back since the Wikiproject Echo actually deals with this stuff. _dk 20:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] More languages

Could someone please maximize the current language capacity of this template to 15, maybe? Because Talk:World War II is a foreign language featured article for 11 different languages. Thanks. Yvesnimmo 01:29, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

I tried, but it didn't work. Maybe it has something to do with double digit parameters. Also, there's no comma and space between the 9th and 10th links, when those parameters are used; I haven't figured out how to fix that, yet. Xaxafrad 06:34, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I think it did work, but there was a propagation delay, or something. Xaxafrad 21:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New templates

I've designed replacements for {{FAOL}} and {{FAOLdone}}, currently at {{User:Anomie/FAOL}} and {{User:Anomie/FAOLdone}}. Both should be 100% backwards compatible with the old versions. Please comment at Wikipedia talk:Featured articles in other languages#Banner templates to keep the discussion in one place. Anomie 03:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
