[edit] A few things...

I changed many of the following things several times in various soap opera character pages only to have them reverted, but I last had to change this page, so I'll stick this here and hope it gets around...

  • Ampersands (&) should not be used in encyclopedias except when part of a title; write out "and" instead.
  • Per the Wikipedia Manual of Style, the only word in section headings that should always be capitalized is the first word; the only other exception is for proper nouns. Thus, it should be "Family and relationships", not "Family and Relationships".
  • Within the family section, relationship titles such as "father", "mother", "brother", and "half-sister" are not proper nouns and should not be capitalized.
  • Also within the family section, no more than one set of brackets should appear beside each name. For example, if Fancy were to become pregnant with and subsequently give birth to Luis's stillborn child on Christmas Eve, such an entry should read "unnamed (daughter, born December 24, 2007, with Luis; stillborn) and not "Unnamed Child (daughter, with Luis) {12/24/07} {stillborn}". In addition to having too many sets of brackets, "Unnamed Child" is not a proper noun and to add child is redundant; unnamed will suffice, and the italics indicate that the child's name was not "Unnamed".
  • Adding on above, dates containing both a month and a day should always be linked per the Wikipedia Manual of Style. A "st", "nd", or "th" should not be added, either.
  • Half-relatives should always be listed at the bottom of a section after any full relatives.
  • Instead of using the words "paternal" or "maternal", the manner of relation should be indicated by a "via parent name". For example, Miles Harris-Crane should be listed as "(half-cousin, via Chad)" instead of (paternal half-cousin) because "paternal" only indicates that Miles is Julian's half-nephew; it does not reveal if Chad is his father or if Beth is his mother, and it does not reveal if his parent is Julian's half-sibling via Alistair or Katherine. Half-siblings, too, should be listed as "via Julian" or "via Ivy" so that the style may be maintained throughout the section.

All right. I'm off my soap box now.  :D - Charity 02:45, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
