Fanny Grace

Fanny Grace is the country music duo of Paul Reeves and Carmen Mejia. Their first national release is 321 Broadway, released on Reeves' publishing company's record label Windswept Records. The CD title refers to the address of a now-vacant storefront in Nashville, Tennessee. The album's first single is an original composition, "Sweet Tea and Cadillacs." The song tells of the gentle "culture shock" of moving from the big city to the pastoral South.

Guitarist and composer Reeves was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His interest in country music started at his father's side. The Catholic family feared persecution, so much of their time was spent indoors. It was there that the elder Reeves sang his family to sleep with the American country music songs of the time. His family moved to New York City when Paul was a boy and was self-taught on guitar by age 11. Reeves began touring the East Coast immediately out of high school.

Singer Carmen Mejia was born in San Fernando, California and grew up as a model student. Music and performing came naturally to Mejia and decided on an acting and musical career while spending two months recovering from a serious car crash. An open call led to three seasons on the ABC-TV sitcom, Saved By The Bell. She was still working on the program when she met the recently transplanted Reeves.

Producer Jeffrey Steele, who wrote songs for Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Rascal Flatts and others was one of Fanny Grace's greatest supporters and responsible for the sound of 321 Broadway.

The band has been promoting themselves in a rather unusual way: They arrange personal appearances at country music radio stations and perform live, either on the air or simply for the staff. As a result, the plan is paying off with tremendous airplay.

The duo is proud to relate how they got their name. Fanny Grace was the pet cat of one of the band members they played with during their formative years. Unlike most cats, she was drawn to the music and frequently curled up on a warm amplifier during rehearsals.
