Fandemonium

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fandemonium is a UK based publisher specialising in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis novels that published it's first book in 2005. The company is run by Sally Malcolm, who is also the chief editor and author of several of the books. The Stargate SG-1 novels were originally only available in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa because the company did not hold a licence to distribute them in North America[1] but the Stargate Atlantis books are available worldwide, however the companies license was later extended to North America in June 2006.[2] All books are written as canon, that is they try to recreate the show. The company that produces Stargate, MGM, reads and approves all the novels.

In November 2004 the company held an open submissions policy and fans of the show were able to submit proposals to write a Stargate SG-1 Novel. This proved very popular, and the aim was to find good fanfiction writers who would be able to write professional novels. Sally Malcolm herself started out as a fanfic writer. Quite a few of the future books to be published are works of authors found through this policy. However such authors will not be used for the publification of Stargate Atlantis novels, which will only be written by professional authors.
