[edit] Plot details
The film is about an American woman, spoiled Patricia Carroll (Powers), who arrives in London to perform a marriage to her lover Alan Glentower (Kauffmann). Before getting married, Pat likely wants to pay a visit to Mrs Trefoile (Bankhead), the mother of her deceased fiancé Stephen (who died in an automobile accident several years ago), at a secluded house on the edge of an English village. Mrs Trefoile is fanatically religious, and it soon becomes apparent she blames Pat for her son's death when Pat reveals to her that she wasn't actually going to marry Stephen, who turned out he committed Suicide. With the help of her equally psychotic servants, she holds Pat captive in an attempt to cleanse her soul and then kill her, reuniting her with her deceased son.

[edit] Mistakes
- After Alan visits the house, Pat is seen falling down the stairs. However, her blouse is in perfect condition with no tears in the back, as in all previous scenes. Also, stunt double is obviously a man from the girth of his back.
- When Patricia is first locked into her room, she tries to open the door, jiggling the handle, and we see a slender gold bracelet on her right wrist. However, the next time she tries the door a few moments later, the bracelet is gone, and we find it is on the left wrist, where it remains.
