The copyright owner's reply does not sound like it is licensed under the GFDL, but rather a Template:withpermission license. This should be fixed. Also, I believe fair use images are not put on the main page as a rule, it it should go off of there. mrholybrain's talk 01:28, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Surely a reply to an email explaining the GFDL license saying "yes you many use it" means "yes you may use it under GFDL". WjBscribe 17:09, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm probably just nitpicking, but Wikipedia is full of nitpicking with copyright issues. I ran the response through babelfish, and here is the result:

If the email was a stand-alone I would tend to agree with you, but it came in reply to an email explaining the GDFL. The context is important. Permission was given understanding that that permission required accepting the terms of GFDL. WjBscribe 02:06, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

This may be nitpicking, but the use of a Spanish-language sign on an English-language Wikipedia article may confuse some users who are not readily aware of the meaning, for instance, the sign reads: "Marriage = Man + Woman" but there is no translation anywhere on the photo page or in the article. Well, it was to avoid POV in the Same-sex marriage in Spain article. There's an image there of a pro-gay march, so it was only fair to show a pic of an anti-gay march. And the caption there includes a translation. :-) To be fair, I would have prefered the gay march pic on the front page (rainbow flags are pretty self-explanatory), but I didn't get to pick. This image should not be replaced by its equivalent on Commons. In that image the face of the subject is deliberately blurred so it can be used in Wikis hosted in countries where such photographs cannot be used without the consent of the subject due to personal image rights (see fr:Droit à l'image or de:Recht am eigenen Bild for example).
