Famous Fido is the world's first Dog Bakery. The company was founded in 1979 by Gloria Lissner on Chicago's North side. In addition to selling treats, the company is heavily involved in dog rescue, having placed over 5,000 dogs to date. Famous Fido began getting press recognition in 1982, starting with El Centro, CA Press' article "Doggie deli offers pupcakes for pooch". Since, they have had articles in The Sunday Star, Woman's World, People magazine, and Chicago Sun-Times to name a few.
