[edit] Academics

Falmouth Academy teaches its 210 students from a core curriculum of English, history, science, mathematics and foreign languages (French and German). Emphasis is on reading and writing. Its science program is particularly strong. Since 1994, the school has had six semi-finalists and two finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search and the Siemens Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition. The average class size is twelve students.

Falmouth Academy's elective class opportunities include those in the arts, music, and theater, with members of the senior class given an option to create and teach their own electives, such as flag football, which must meet with the approval of the faculty. This is a valuable learning experience for those seniors who pursue this option. The school is also a founding member of the Small Independent Schools Art League (SISAL).
