[edit] Synopsis

Murphy plays the role of Emily, the daughter of an alcoholic mother. Her mother, Resse, tells her that alcoholism runs in the family, and she is at risk of having it too. After Resse kills herself in the bathtub, she leaves a recorded tape saying "I'm sorry Emily, but I'm just so tired." Devastated by the death of her mother, Emily proceeds to drink excessively and the prophecy comes true. Emily acts uncontrollably and alcohol becomes a way to relive herself of the pain. However, after seeing how alcohol influences her actions, Emily takes off in a car and drives to a lake. She wades into the water and it seems as if she is trying to drown herself. However, at the last minute, she gasps for air and says "my mother choose to die. there was nothing I could do to ease her pain. except maybe live".
