Fallibroome High School is a comprehensive school for girls and boys aged 11 - 18 in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. Fallibroome was opened as a purpose-built comprehensive school on the present site in September 1979. The most recent OFSTED inspection report in 2001 paid tribute to very high standards of teaching and learning. Fallibroome was ranked in the top 5% in the country for its teaching standards.[citation needed]
The school's current uniform consists of a green blazer, a green, red and white striped tie and a standard white shirt with appropriate black school shoes and black/grey trousers.
Although only officially opened at its present location in 1980, during 1979 it operated from the old premises of the Wycliffe Avenue Secondary Modern School in Wilmslow as a 'stop gap' for a grammar school intake of 72 boys who were unable to be taken by King's School, Macclesfield.
[edit] Design and technology department
Fallibroome's Design and Technology Department has a growing reputation both nationally and internationally. The department has had success in many national competitions over the last few years including Greenpower, Young Master Chef and the Audi Innovation award. The Department shares its good practice by holding "professional development activities" for local schools and shares its resources via its own website.
[edit] Performing Arts
Fallibroome is currently a Performing Arts college and is heralded as one of the finest Performing Arts Schools in the UK. Over the past three years they have had great success with performances of Oh! What a Lovely War in 2004, Les Miserables in 2005, A Christmas Carol in 2006 and are currently working on a performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which will be performed from the 13th to the 15th of December of 2007. Both Les Miserables and Oh! What a Lovely War were performed in the new Performance Hall which has seating enough for over 400 people to watch the shows. There have also been smaller performances of Julius Caesar, Moby-Dick , a play written by one of the members of the faculty based on the original novel and The Tempest.
