Fakse
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fakse is a town in Denmark in Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand.
Before the Danish Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), Fakse was also a municipality. As of January 1, 2007, the former municipalities of Fakse, Haslev, and Rønnede have formed the new Faxe municipality.
Before The Municipality Reform, Fakse covered an area of 147 km², and had a total population of 12,243 (2005). Its mayor was René Tuekær Hansen, a former social democrat who has represented a local list since November, 1993, and continues to do so in Faxe municipality.
Fakse is home to Faxe Bryggeri, a relatively large brewery producing many kinds of beer and soda. The town also has a very big limestone quarry, owned by Faxe Kalk.
