Template talk:Fairuseuserpage

"Fair use" media is not allowed on Wikipedia user pages. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:User page for an outlining of this policy, or if you want to discuss it.
This template can be used to replace "fair use" images on user pages, and provide the user with a little note about the policy. If the user had an image coding as:
[[Image:Bad.png|thumb|Copyrighted image!]]
you would replace it with the coding:
{{fairuseuserpage|Bad.png}}
If you want to change the behavior of the box (i.e. align it to the left side of the page, or change its width), you can enter in a second argument, which should override the template's previous settings. For example,
{{fairuseuserpage|Bad.png|left}}
would be the same thing as the previous usage, except it would show up on the left side of the page rather than the right.
You should also put a polite note on their talk page, such as:
- ==Fair use images on your user page==
- Images licensed under "fair use" are not allowed on Wikipedia user pages, as Wikipedia's claims to "fair use" are only supportable when they are used for media in encyclopedia articles. You can see [[Wikipedia:Fair use]] and [[Wikipedia:User page]] for reiteration of this policy or if you want to discuss it. I've replaced them with {{tl|fairuseuserpage}} for now, just as placeholders, to get your attention, and to make it clear which pictures in particular were problematic. You are free to remove my coding and replace the original images with "free" images if you wish, but please don't replace them with more copyrighted media. - Hi User. Please remove the image [[:Image:Name.ext]] from your [[Wikipedia:User page|user page]]. Unfortunately, it is tagged as a copyrighted image, and under [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]] guidelines, it may not be used on user pages. Thank you. ~~~~
