[edit] Early life
Faizan Riaz Cheema was born on 10 September 1979 in Faisalabad, where his father was a Professor of Microbiology at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
At the age of three, his family moved to Kuwait where he lived until 1997. He also went to Divisional Public School, Modeltown, for eight months during the Kuwait-Iraq Gulf war in 1990.
[edit] Education/ Scientific career
Graduated with DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 2001. Faizan Conducted his research for M.Phil on Molecular Genetics at Centre of Excellence in Molecular BiologyUniversity of the Punjab focussing on Hereditary Hearing impairment in Sindhi population (Genetic Deafness). Currently, he is researching for the fulfillment of his PhD in the field of Forensic DNA Typing.[2]

In Pakistan Where FM radio industry flourished during 1990s [3]. Radio jockeys/presenters started becoming popular among the youth of the country.[4] Cheema followed the trend into radio broadcasting and gained popularity among the listeners in Lahore.
One day he was having his breakfast on the table using an old news paper as a mat, where he came across an advertisement of Radio Jockeys talent hunt at a new FM radio channel. Faizan appeared for the auditions and was selected for his verstility. Faizan never even had an experience of listening to any radio channel through out his life, yet used to entertain his colleagues during the ward session of his undergrad studies using diaphragm of his stethoscope as a mic awakening the magic of his vocal cords.
Along with his educational activities as a scientist, Faizan also started his career as Radio jockey/presenter in the beginning of 2004 with FM 89, which was established in 2004 and is a sister company of the Dawn Group of Newspapers
Faizan Later on switched to another newly launched FM 103, due to his discomfort with the presentation policies of FM 89[5] and is a part of it till date. He has gained considerable popularity among listeners of MastFM[6]. Faizan has been hailed as one of the best FM radio presenters in the country and his success is attributed to his sense of humour and unique way of presentation.[7]

Faizan has also made various TV appearances for Live shows on Aaj TV conducting the religious talk shows i.e "Understanding Islam" [8] and "Interfaith Harmony" .He also appeared in some TV advertisement focussing the compaigns of Punjab Government.
Cheema has also been engaged in providing Voice Overs for Radio and TV adv. But has not been able to manage appearances on television due to his full time role as a research scientist.[9]
He also delivers honourary lectures on Radio Journalism to the students of Mass Communication studies.
