The story follows a couple named Luke and Ruby, two outlaws during the Great Depression. A nefarious oilman is looking to take down the couple, who are on a spree of robbing banks across the western United States.

Deadline claims that the game will emphasize on cinematic aspects surrounding the characters. Deadline calls the game a "gritty, emotional shooter". Online co-op has also been confirmed.
