Fairview Pointe-Claire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fairview Pointe-Claire also called Centre Fairview (or Fairview Centre in English) is one of the largest, super regional shopping malls in the Island of Montreal with about 1 million square feet (92,900 m²) and over 200 stores. The major anchor tenants are la Baie, Sears, Déco Découverte, Winners, HomeSense, Renaud-Bray, Old Navy, and Sports Experts/Atmosphere .
The centre inaugurated in 1965 with Simpsons, Steinberg, Eaton, Pascal and regular small stores. Fairview Pointe-Claire is the first built of Cadillac Fairview's four (self-branded) "Fashion centres" that also include the Carrefour Laval, Les Promenades Saint-Bruno and Les Galeries d'Anjou. Like fellow shopping centre Les Promenades Saint-Bruno, Fairview Pointe-Claire is a two stories mall. But unlike Les Promenades Saint-Bruno, the walkway section of Fairview Pointe-Claire was originally one story.
A Les Ailes de la Mode department store was slated to open where Sears once stood (Sears moved into the old Eaton location), but when Les Ailes went into financial trouble, it cancelled its plans, opening the way for Winners, HomeSense, Renaud-Bray, Old Navy, and Sports Experts/Atmosphere to open.
The mall is located in the city of Pointe-Claire.
