Fairfield or Woodstock is a suburb to the northeast of central Hamilton. It is bordered by the Waikato River to the west, Chartwell to the north, Fairview Downs to the east and Claudelands to the South.
This area experienced rapid growth in the 1950s and 60s. The eastern part of Fairfield is one of the roughest areas in the city, with high crime and high gang activity. In 2007 New Zealand Post suspended deliveries to part of the area for serveral days due to gang violence.[1]
