Barbie: Fairytopia is a 2005 computer animated direct-to-video Barbie film directed by Walter P. Martishius and Will Lau. This film is the fifth in the Barbie film series of computer-animated Barbie films, and the first to have an original storyline not based on previous material. The plot centers around a wingless flower fairy named Elina who must save the land of Fairytopia from an evil fairy named Laverna. As with the previous Barbie films, a line of toys, dolls, and other products were made based on and released in conjunction with the film.
The film features the voice of Kelly Sheridan, who voices the Barbie protagonist in all the CGI Barbie films to date. This film is followed by two direct sequels: Barbie: Mermaidia and Barbie Fairytopia: Magic of the Rainbow.
[edit] Synopsis
In a world called Fairytopia that is "just through the rainbow," a fairy named Elina lives with her puffball Bibble in a large flower in the Magic Meadow. Since she has no wings, Elina is constantly teased by some of the other fairies. However, she has a friend named Dandelion who defends her.
One day, Elina and Dandelion find out that the local Guardian Fairy, Topaz, has been kidnapped and that there is a sickness running around that affects all creatures with wings, as well as Elina's flower home. Since Elina believes that another Guardian Fairy named Azura can help solve the problem, she sets off to find Azura and embarks on a journey to save Fairytopia. After a long and harrowing quest, Elina is able to defeat the evil Laverna, responsible for the illness affecting the fairies, and for that the Enchantress grants her wings.
