Fades viaduct
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fades viaduct (French: Viaduc des Fades) is a railway viaduct in the Puy-de-Dôme department, central France. It is the third tallest viaduct in the world, after the Mala Rijeka viaduct with 198m (Montenegro) and Viaduto 13 with 143m (Brazil).
The Fades viaduct is located close to Les Ancizes-Comps, in the Auvergne region, between the communes of Sauret-Besserve and Les Ancizes-Comps. It spans across the river Sioule. Some people think that the fades viaduct is still the actual tallest viaduct in the world in terms of construction from bottom to top.[citation needed] It was constructed between 1901 and 1909.
