[edit] License tagging for Image:BlueDoberGirl.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:BlueDoberGirl.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Star Wars Trading Cards
First of all, the page wasn't deleted, all the content is still there in the history, all I did was made it into a redirect, this can be easily reverted. Second, when commenting on a user's talk page, please use ~~~~ (four tildes) to sign your comment with your username and a timestamp, this makes it easier to keep track of who said what.
To explain my turning the article into a redirect, the article itself I didn't have a problem with, but there were parts of it that were redundant (the glossary and grading information was generic information duplicating what was in Trading card, and the list of released sets is probably obscure enough that it's hard to justify including here - a fan wiki like Wookiepedia would be a better place for that type of information, and it should be available from outside sources anyway. I trimmed those parts and didn't see enough left for its own article.
You may want to work on the trading card content within the main Star Wars article and seperate it out when/if it gets to be enough to warrent a seperate article, or work with a copy in your user space and move it into article space when you are ready.
Also, you may want to read WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_an_indiscriminate_collection_of_information and Wikipedia:Fancruft. A number of Wikipedians, myself included, hold strong opinions about what information is "encyclopedic" enough for inclusion in Wikipedia, and its helpful to at least understand where this is coming from, even if you may not agree. - Stephanie Daugherty (Triona) - Talk - Comment - 02:34, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Annual fuel utilization efficiency article
FactsAndFigures: First, let me welcome you to Wikipedia. The Annual fuel utilization efficiency article needs to do more than just tell us how to pronounce the acronym AFUE. Where did the term come from? How is it determined or calculated? Is it part of some regulatory or code requirement? In other words, what is it other than some measure of thermal efficiency? You really should expand on the article and make it somewhat more complete before you start adding it to the "See also" sections of other articles.
I understand that you are new to Wikipedia and I hope you don't take my above comments as destructive criticism. I offer them as constructive suggestions on how you might turn that article into something much more useful than it is now. - mbeychok 21:19, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I guess that I didn't make myself clear enough, for which I apologize. You must keep in mind that many of us don't have access to a copy of the ASHRAE Standards ... probably a great many of us. Instead of simply referring us to read ASHRAE Standard 103 to find out about AFUE, it would be much better if you briefed that Standard 103 down to a paragraph or a few paragraphs if needed and explained how the AFUE is measured or determined. Any one can start a new article with a few sentences and say "Read Standard XXX ... or read book XXX ... if you want to find out what this article is about". When one of us starts a new article, there is an obligation to know enough about the subject to explain it to others without sending them elsewhere to learn about the subject. [edit] HVAC
Do you know where I can find further information on displacement forced air duct design? Alan.ca 07:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes -- ASHRAE has books (aka 'design guides') available on conventional overhead, displacement, and underfloor air distribution. See the bookstore at www.ashrae.org. FactsAndFigures 14:28, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
It turns out that the ASHRAE manual was available at my local library. I also found that the ACCA manuals are available for purchase as downloadable documents. Thanks for the advice. After talking to many HVAC contractors it's such a relief to find a group of engineers who have straight answers. Alan.ca 04:43, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Well ... having installed HVAC in the past, please don't discount their advice! However, seeking more advice, rather than less, is normally a good thing. FactsAndFigures 12:32, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Room Air Distribution
Hi, I noticed you had put some time into this article and I was looking to update it based on the ASHRAE 1997 Fundamentals book. It seems that you may be working with a more current version of the text. I have proposed a name change for the article, but you have cited a source for a statement relating to the name. Would you please visit the talk page for the article and comment on my proposal. Thanks. Alan.ca 09:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ASHRAE Logo
FYI, I have replaced Image:ASHRAE.jpg with Image:ASHRAE Logo.png. Hope that's OK. -- Ddxc (talk) 09:26, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Architectural engineering
Hi Facts. I know you did a lot of hard work on the article and that is much appreciated... but based on fact that the article was not universal enough, and on MARussellPESE's additional comments, I re-worked it to give it a global perspective (please see the talk page). I moved your original article (with a link from the main one) to Architectural engineer (PE), as I think it is really about a unique profession that exists only in the US. I hope you don't disapprove and please feel free to contribute to the main article. I am still a bit mystified, however, about the actual practice entitlements of the AE in the US. It would be useful if you could elaborate on this. Please no hard feelings! Mariokempes 19:04, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SWTCS1C1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SWTCS1C1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
