Although there has been much debate on the subject of who is or who isn't the King of Jersey, Face isn't worried about all the fuss as to who really lays claim to the title. As a soon to be rap star, aspiring entrepreneur, and young dad, Face's experience in the street, coupled with his amazing growth as an individual has placed him in a position only a handful of people reach in their lifetime. "I'm not concerned with having to prove myself," Face says. "I don't have to prove anything, because my growth as an artist and as a lyricist can be heard in my music." Indeed, with the release of his second solo album The New Jersey Gwap Exchange, its obvious that Anthony Gibson AKA "Face" is a top-notch rapper whose lyrics and artistic vision tower over the competition. Anthony, 24, was born and raised in the notoriously known Jersey City. As a child, the aspiring rapper listened to and idolized early Bad Boy and Roc a Fella recording artists like Mase and Jay-Z, who he cites as some of his early influences. A few years later, Anthony met Charles Hailey aka Ceiz who would later take the reigns of managing Face and help molding him into a prolific and profound artist. In 2000 at the age of 18, Face made his debut on the locally accepted independent label Dead Broke Entertainments.. Banana Knots vol.1. In 2001, the rap prodigy, along with Ceiz, Lex and Joey Sherockz formed the Jersey City super-group Bangkok and dropped their self-titled debut CD. The records independent success garnered the young mc legions of fans throughout New Jersey. He further distinguished himself as the MC to watch on the Dead Broke 60 Minute Mix tape with DJ 007(2001). At age 19, Face launched his solo career with the release of the hood smash The Blessings of Tony Knuckelz. Clever wordplay, combined with his mature street savy made the CD one of the year's most compelling albums. The young prodigy's second album, The New Jersey Gwap Exchange (2005), further solidified Face's reputation as one of jersey's finest lyricists, but it's the soon to be released N.W.A. that finally forced rap fans beyond Jersey City to recognize what die-hard Face fans knew all along: Face was a hip hop force to be reckoned with. As the newest venture on Face's imprint, The Program/240 Entertainment, N.W.A. is bound to thrill those who have watched Face mature since his first appearance on Banana Knots. "Everyday I experience new things, and it's these experiences I express creatively in my songs. Face is a perfectionist in the lab, has never been one to waste time. In fact, he has been known to complete 7 songs in an 8 hour recording slot. "I could do an entire album in a week," he brags, "But N.W.A. took me a little longer, a few months, he deadpans. I wanted to make sure everything was right." Approaching N.W.A with the skills of a psychologist, Face dug through the vaults of his own material in order to analyze his own style. "Listening to the past albums, I wanted to change it up slightly. What fans will be hearing on N.W.A. is a revised and refreshed Face, from the scorching first single "They Coming," produced by newcomers Ansane, where Face drops blazing lyrics, to his second single "Dippin Off", where he boasts about taking ladies home after parties. Face is no longer the young cocky boy from Storms avenue content with just spitting boastful rhymes. Aside from fans, fellow artists have also recognized his maturation as a well rounded musician. Consequently, Face's poetic word play has earned him featured collaborations on Kahlia's smash hit Stand up and many more. Face has also stepped out of his realm to play the character "Danga" in the independent film "Brownsville" directed by Open Mindz. These collaborations have exposed the gifted artist/actor to a broader audience, demonstrating that his talent knows no boundaries. Face's flow and choice of subject matter have also become more versatile. Make Me Feel is one song that stands out to him, because it's about love, and I've never done a love song before. With N.W.A, Face proves himself more than a contender to the throne, because this winner is already wearing the crown
