Facility 615
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Facility 615 is the double-circuit 110kV-line for three phase AC current between Calmbach substation and Höfen substation of the EnBW AG. The Enz Valley crossing between pylon 11 and 12 near Calmbach is with a width of 1372.8 meters the second largest and the Eyach Valley crossing between Pylon 15 (geographical coordinates: 8°33'35" eastern length, 48°48'14" northern latitude) and 16 (geographical coordinates: 48°48'38" northern latitude, 8°33'00" eastern length) with a span width of 1444 metres the largest powerline span in Germany.
Although both circuits of the powerline are designed for 110 kV, the circuit on the east side of the pylons is run presently only with 20 kV. On pylon 16 there is also a branch of the 20kV-circuit for the power supply of a secret facility layn in the 709 metre high Horn mountain. The powerline branch is barely remarkable. It can be seen only, if you stand just in front of pylon carrying the number 16.
In contrast to Elbe Crossing 1 and Elbe Crossing 2 the pylons are relatively low (70 meters for Eyach Valley crossing), as they stand high on the mountains.
