Faceless Killers is a crime novel by Swedish writer Henning Mankell. It is the first in his internationally popular Inspector Kurt Wallander series. The original Swedish publication was in 1991, with an English translation by Steven T. Murray being published in 1997. The book has also won the Glass Key Award.
The plot focuses on Wallander's investigation into the brutal murders of an elderly couple on an isolated farm in southern Sweden's Skåne region, and the consequences for the country's immigrant community when the media learns that foreigners may have been involved in the crime. The story also explores Sweden's liberal attitude towards immigration and the controversies surrounding refugees and asylum seekers, as well as opposition to foreigners from nationalist groups.
