[edit] My RfA thanks
Hello Fabricationary/Archive 2, and thank you for your support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with an overwhelming final count of (105/2/0). I was very pleased with the outpouring of kind words from the community that has now entrusted me with these tools, from the classroom, the lesson in human psychology and the international resource known as Wikipedia. The Free Encyclopedia. I will continue to monitor WP:PNT, although you, Fsotrain09 and others are doing a great job at filling the niche I once occupied mostly by myself. Please feel free to leave me plenty of requests, monitor my actions (through the admin desk on my userpage) and, if you find yourself in the mood, listen to some of what I do in real life. In any case, keep up the great work and have a fabulous day. Grandmasterka 07:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC) |

[edit] McCartney Weddings
I wouldn't call it "stubborn", since you asked for explanation and I complied. Please take into consderation the fact that I completely complied with your request. The McCartney family changed music and animal activism for good, which was my main point. I doubt people will confuse the significance of a McCartney wedding with that of another pop singer, don't you agree? 128.226.219.107 05:35, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
"Be aware that by contributing to Wikipedia, you're allowing anyone, regardless of their beliefs, values, and ideas, to mercilessly edit, remove, change, or do whatever they'd like to your contributions."
Oh, I totally agree. I just think that putting the accomplishments of the McCartney family along, say, the lines of those of Jessica Simpson or Avril Lavigne--who I and just about anyone else would consider "celebrities"--is totally insane.
128.226.219.107 05:35, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Seriously, as I think more on the subject, it has to do with the incredible *impact* that the Beatles had on the music world, what with backwards tape loops, confidence in young people to be artists, new directions in music, etc...and then Mary McCartney's ability to take this legacy and re-establish the Eastman hold on photography, photographing the fourth child of the Prime Minister for his first photo shoot, while managing the picture department at MPL Communications; major activism in the areas of breast cancer and animal rights--I know it's opinion here, but we're clearly in the region of "legend", rather than just "celebrity". 128.226.219.107 06:00, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hupda
In case you are interested I have finished translating the full article now. I would appreciate any advice you could give me about the next step. i have flagged it on 'Pages needing Translation into English' as finished and pointed it out it could do with being checked by an anthropologist as it got pretty technical. After that it would need a tidy up too! Thanks for your help Kyrian 14:56, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking it over and my apologies for being such a bad reader ;). I think i got a bit blinkered towards the end of the translation. Let me know when you are done as I would like to see what it turns out as when tidied up. All the best Kyrian 15:08, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
Thank you so much for voting in my recent RFA. It passed on the relatively narrow vote of 38/8/8. It was also one of the least-participated-in RFA nominations in several months, so pat yourself on the back, and join the party on your left, but first, take your cookie!

[edit] vandalism?
This edit might not be the best (I don't really know), but it doesn't appear to be vandalism to me... Does it really deserve a user warning? --Interiot 15:24, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I see your point. I don't care much about t1 versus t3, I just prefer to be cautious about accusing users of vandalism unless their actions are more or less clear. Certainly redlinks shouldn't be added to December 23, and I guess I can see how the other things you mentioned might make it a borderline vandalism. --Interiot 17:49, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your t3 to Sheepyman
Do you think it was appropriate to jump straight to test3 with Sheepyman?
I'm not sure what he did, by all means if it was very serious, let me know. Otherwise, when warning vandals use the correct procedure (1-2-3) generally. Thanks. --Deon555|talk|e 00:03, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Running gags
Dude, why on Earth do you want Wikipedia to remove the original List of running gags but keep the articles listing Recurring jokes in The Simpsons and Running gags in Friends? If the original list honestly doesn't deserve to be on Wikipedia, then I guess maybe those latter two don't either! --Nintendo Maximus 22:10, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

I would certainly appreciate knowing why I cannot be writing about a book I like on the net as there is a page for a book by John Gray "Men are from mars, women are from venus" on this website?? Magicofwoman 07:42, 31 July 2006 (UTC) Magicofwoman
Fabricationary: I'm Les Morgenstern author of the book What Every Man should Know about Women and developer of the free web book sites having the URL’s Magicofwoman.com and Whateverymanshouldknowaboutwomen.com. I would like to apologize to you and the entire Wikipedia Organization for each and every contribution we thought we were making in good conscience to Wikipedia.
I would also like to explain what happened in some detail, as the people who work for me didn't mean to break any of your organizations rules in any manner, shape or form. I did not know the rules myself and had left it up to others to handle the marketing of my book.
Chetan without my knowledge made the first two contributions without knowing your rules. Then others duplicated his mistake in response to his mistakes being deleted from Wikipedia. I had no idea all of this was going on incorrectly until I fould out from Chetan that he had put information on Wikipedia and so had they, all of this culminating in getting your email about what was being done wrong.
The last thing I want to do is get banned from Wikipedia! I can assure you that I am neither a flake nor some kind of a nut trying to do something wrong at the expense of your organization and your readers.
I can further assure you that if you go to my website you will find a truly formidable analysis of the subject THINGS MEN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WOMEN which is a topic that the Wikipedia organization wanted someone to write an article about.
I know it is a lot to ask but I am going to ask you to do it anyway. So here goes: I would like you to go to my website and read what I have written. If you come away impressed then I would like you and the Wikipedia organization to allow me to write the Article about either THINGS MEN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WOMEN or What Every Man should Know about Women which is basically the same thing.
I never intended to publish the book except as a Free Web Book. So I will never be a noted published author, which is one of the criteria you mentioned as being a requirement. I am asking you and the staff of Wikipedia to make an exception for me and for all of humanity. Why? When you read my book you will understand that I am trying to eliminate the suffering between all men and all women in the world through the discoveries I have made over the past years of my life. I know that John Gray and many noted psychologist are in error and are using faulty logic some of which wikipedia has (thank God) pointed out in it’s article on his popular book.
You may think I’m a flake, nut or egotist for even writing you this letter, but after you read what I have written about the general 7+2 theory which is in the Basics and what I have written in the mini-books on THE INTELLECTUAL AND ROMANTIC WOMEN I’m confident you and the staff at Wikipedia will change their minds.
I have dedicated my time, money and years of research to getting a book written that can be accessed by anyone in any country from any background and culture that will stand the test of time and that will supercede Gray’s work and the work of Psychologists all of whom have missed several main points about the behavior of women specifically and the behavior of humans of both genders. I know or think I know why that happened. I want to get my information out so that the suffering can be reduced worldwide. I realize that you may not be in a decision making position at Wikipedia but if you can’t on your own make that decision then I would appreciate being able to get in tough with those who are.
The information in my book id “spot on” you won’t find it anywhere and if you take the time to read what I wrote you will readily see it’s true and accurate and not the work of some “mad scientist”. I recall in your profile seeing your self-description as a “mad scientist”. I don’t think of myself as engaging in mad science and since everything I am writing is free then whatever I am one thing is for sure it’s not about making money.
So I want to thank you for in advance for your anticipated future cooperation and ask you to please not ban me or my work from Wikipedia because we didn’t understand the rules and secondly, allow me to write the article(s) about what men should know about women men all over the world sorely need … most especially in those cultures where arranged marriages are the tradition of the culture.
All the best.
Les Magicofwoman 11:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC) Magicofwoman
P.S. If you search for What Every Man should Know about Women on MSN my book is both 1 & 2, on Yahoo #2, on Google 7 & 11 almost always there are more than10 million others who didn’t rank as high.
P.P.S. readership on the site is growing at the rate of 50% per month. Les Magicofwoman 11:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC) Magicofwoman

[edit] Date Article Holidays
I deleted a religious holiday from a small religeon awhile back. But I don't really think we've got criteria for what counts as an observance - other than that it must repeat, etc. What size religion is too small to consider? Less than a billion, less than 100 million, less than 1 million? I think I'd prefer to do it based on numbers so that folks don't feel picked on by us wicked Wiki-meanies. That is, I don't think I want to create a list of "approved" religions. By-the-numbers effectively does the same thing, but at least it allows for growth. At any rate, I'd appreciate it if you gave this some thought and perhaps started a thread on the project page. And, of course, if you don't think that's wise, then, well, that's why I thought I'd bounce the idea off of you first. Rklawton 00:00, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think we could even go with half of that. And/Or - I also think we might want to consider the age of the religion as an alternative qualification. Perhaps a thousand years continuous practice or so. This would allow Zoroastrianism and Gnosticism (though they probably don't use this calendar) and a few other really cool middleastern religions (John the Baptist still has followers in northern Iraq I believe). Rklawton 05:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh!!! i get it now!!! so, yeah. that'll be my job from now on, actually taking nice pictures of celebrities for wikipeida!!! --Colorfulharp233 00:18, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- I thought I might jump in as a photographer here. WP has a policy of "no original research", yet photos I take and contribute can easily be interpreted as exactly that. In addition, photos, like art in general, easily communicate a POV. Take for example, East St. Louis, Illinois (I'm not responsible for that photo). The main photo makes ESL look like a lovely little brown-stone kind of place - and not the drug and gang infested hell hole that it is. So, isn't the photo used actually POV pushing? Let's keep all that in mind. As for Ms. Carey... just keep these things in mind. I haven't viewed the images in question, so I have no opinion. Rklawton 00:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism warnings
Hi. I ascribe to a 'put yourself in their shoes' philosophy. From his perspective; there was a line about some guy he may never have heard of, who turned out to be a professional wrestler (and apparently a minor one at that). You'd never find info on a person like that in Brittannica... must not be notable, better remove it. Then some guy comes along and accuses me of vandalism?! I'll show him. Et cetera.
Now obviously it is impossible to know exactly what someone is thinking, especially if they don't use an edit summary, but that's where AGF comes in. You have seen his edit history... some contentious issues here and there, but no prior blocks, no prior vandalism warnings. Did it really seem plausible that it was his intent to damage the encyclopedia? In your comments on my page you seem to say instead that he was 'applying an incorrect view of notability' and thus removing something which was notable by normal Wikipedia standards... which is true, but explicitly not vandalism. NPOV violations (which you described this as), mistakes, stubborness, et cetera are all specifically listed as not vandalism.
"Vandalism is any addition, deletion, or change to content, made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of the encyclopedia."
I just think that if there is any reasonable possibility, let alone what seems to me a likelihood, that the person was trying to improve things, even if based on a 'biased' view of what is 'better', then the word 'vandalism' shouldn't come into it. It's not what Wikipedia's vandalism policy is meant to cover and it ups the 'annoyance factor' when it doesn't need to. If you and he had continued to revert that sentence back and forth you would both have eventually been blocked for 3RR violation... because disagreements about content or notability are not vandalism. Obviously, he shouldn't have reacted the way he did, but it can only benefit everyone to assume people are acting in good faith barring clear evidence to the contrary. --CBD 11:11, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My edit to June 30
Please do not deliberately introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did at June 30. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Fabricationary 14:51, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is not incorrect information, I got it directly from the Jessica Simpson page. It is an event. So I would like to know why you deleted it and called it vandalism. It is an event. I put it under the Events section. What's so vandalist about that? – 71.162.31.12 15:23, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Motorola V180
A while ago, May to be exact, you reverted an edit regarding potential flaws of the Motorola V180 for being in contravention of the Neutral Point of View policy. I have tried to reintegrate those complaints into the article in a neutral way with pictures (That was a nightmare) and references. I ask that you take a look at the page and check it and edit/revert it if necessary.
Thank you for your time.

[edit] Kpjas' RFA
Hi Fabricationary! (Great username, BTW)
On Kpjas' RFA, you have voted neutral based on his apparent lack of experience, ("your usertalk edits are quite low, and as Thatcher131 pointed out, your Wikipedia space edits aren't in administrative areas. I would gladly support you in a few months if you actively worked on those five items you listed above"). In fact, Kpjas is already an admin on the Polish Wikipedia, and has 37,000 edits there, including 2,600 to WP space over there. You have voted neutral based on inexperience in admin areas, but these facts clearly indicate plenty of experience in the required areas. Fab, you want an experienced editor for admin. Kpjas is clearly experienced. Without badgering you, I urge you to reconsider your vote in this particular RfA. Happy editing! :) Firsfron of Ronchester 00:10, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note, Fab. I'm glad you've looked into the situation again. I share your belief that had his adminship status and huge number of edits on .pl been brought up at the start, the early votes would likely have been different. Anyway, thanks for taking a second look at the RfA. Best, Firsfron of Ronchester 03:37, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yonmei query - page nominated for deletion?
Hi. You were kind enough to offer assistance should I have a query, and I do! I've been going through the names listed in the category "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender" people to move them into subcategories: in the course of doing this, sometimes doing other (usually minor) edits to the pages I come across. I found a webpage for a porn star, "Leah Luv", who appeared to be "non notable". So I nominated that page for deletion, 26th August. On 27th August, I see that someone not logged in deleted the notice of nomination for deletion, removing Leah Luv from the category of pages nominated for deletion. (No comments on why they did so on the discussion page for "Leah Luv".) What's the proper thing to do now? I've never nominated a page for deletion before: I don't fundamentally care if Leah Luv goes in or stays out, but I suppose I might care more in future for some other page. Um. I wouldn't bother you, but you did say to ask! Yonmei 20:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for answering the question! Yonmei 18:39, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
