Born January 18, 1938 in Houston, Texas, the youngest of six children of Herman and Laura Flood. Moved to Oakland, California at the age of two.[1] Flood attended McClymonds High School and Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, California.[2][1]
In 1968 Sports Illustrated called Flood "Baseball's Best Centerfielder".[2]
