Talk:Fabio Grobart
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thank you very much Polaris that is a great start. I will begin to add immediately. One problem will be his many aliases. There is even a misspelling of Grobart as Grovart for in one of Castro's speeches, the minutes were apparently taken by somebody from old Oriente province where the v is synonymous with the b, as in viajaca, a fresh water "pan" fish (usually Cichlasoma tetracanthus [1]), which is commonly spelt Biajaca in the rest of the country. - Not just Oriente - I know many Cubans from other parts of the country who regularly confuse b and v. The Revolution may have eliminated illiteracy, but it hasn't taught everyone how to spell properly ! -- Beardo 01:38, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Beardo, your kind editing is much appreciated. As to the spelling Spanish you are formally correct. Yet while this "tongue" is in great part a phonetic language, however, there are strong influences from archaic sources. The "Royal Academy of the Tongue" gets its licks in but archaic roots often influence the spelling, grammar and usage, when a Güajiro greets one with what seems to be a disrespectful" !Oye tu!" (Hey you!) what we hear is an echo of the ancient Taíno formal salutation "!Oyea Tau!" (Humble greetings great Sir!). Additions continue El Jigüe 1-14-07
[edit] Otto Katz
One wonders at the relationships between Fabio Grobart and Otto Katz. Koch, Stephen. 1994 (2004 edition) Double Lives. Enigma Press, New York ISBN 1929631200 103-104, 346-349 and others. From 103 states " He (Otto Katz) is known to have worked closely there (Mexico City) with the long time NKVD chieftain Umansky, spending the war (WW II) much involved in Soviet operations within the United States and the Caribbean, working among other things with Fidel Castro's predecessor, Fulgencio Batista. Batista was at this time much admired and promoted by the left, and Katz was empowered to make Batista grand offers on behalf of the Soviet Union if Batista would enter Stalin's sphere of influence.
