Fabric is a progressive rock band formed in 2006 in Bath, England. The band consists of drummer Tom Hammond, bassist Neil Swift, guitarist/producer Simon Matthews and vocalist Anna Parry.

[edit] History

In the late 90s Anna Parry and Simon Matthews met each other at City of Bath College and formed the band Plastic Eyes. In 2005 after the demise of Plastic Eyes, they started performing around Bristol and Bath together as Parry:Matthews. Over the following 12 months they recruited Tom Hammond (drums), Neil Swift (bass) and Rob Phillips (guitar) to the line-up and started writing, performing and recording as a full working band. Anna and Simon felt that while the name Parry:Matthews suited them when performing as a duo, it wasn't representative of the band they had become so in summer 2007 they re-christened themselves Fabric. In Autumn 2007 Rob Phillips left to pursue a solo career (www.myspace.com/phillipscreative) but rejoined the band for one night on the evening of Saturday 1st December 2007 when Fabric released their album 'four two' with a gig at Invention in Bath. They were also joined on the night by lead guitarist Matt Venn who guested on the album and continues to be an occasional member of the band.
