The 1986 FA Cup Final was won by Coventry City, who beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 after extra-time. The game was played at Wembley Stadium in London and had an attendance of 98,000. Clive Allen gave Spurs the lead after just 2 minutes but Dave Bennett equalised for Coventry only seven minutes later. Gary Mabbutt restored Spurs lead five minutes before half-time. Keith Houchen scored a second equaliser for Coventry on 63 minutes and that was how it stayed. The game went into extra time and Spurs' hero of the first half, Mabutt, became a villain as he scored an own goal to win the game for Coventry.
