[edit] Background and chart performances
The song was written and the music composed by Jean-Michel Padilla, David Ployer and Anthony Sansault, and was produced by Hit Sound Production. It was compared to the songs by Tragedy (a French R&B group),[1] particularly for its catchy refrain, its choreography and its explicit words alluding to sex. The song was also criticized for being too commercial, with poor lyrics.[2]
The song features on many French compilations, such as Hits 2 en 1 été 2006, Contact Play & Dance Vol. 3 (original club mix), Starfloor Vol. 5, NRJ Hits 2007 and Hit Connection - Best Of 2006.
In France, the single went straight to number 2 on August 5, 2006 and reached #1 two weeks later. There it stayed for five consecutive weeks, then dropped to #3 but managed to remain for a total of 15 weeks in the top ten. After that, it kept on dropping and desappeared from the chart after 25 weeks of attendance.[3] It was the fourth best-selling single of the year.[4]
In Belgium (Wallonia), the single debuted at the bottom of the chart (#37), on September 30, 2006, and peaked at #1 for a single week on November 18, 2006. It remained for 11 weeks in the top ten and 19 weeks on the chart (Top 40).[5] The single was ranked #30 on the Belgian End of the Year Chart.[6]
In Switzerland, the single was charted for 19 weeks, from August 20, to December 24, 2006, but was only a top 25 hit, reaching its highest position, #23, in its ninth week.[7]
The band didn't manage to reproduce the same performance with their second single, Hey Girl.
