F. Javier Cevallos

Dr. F. Javier Cevallos is the current president of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, United States. He is the eleventh university president, and has been president since April 25, 2002. Cevallos is also the university's first Hispanic president.
Cevallos was born in Cuenca, Ecuador. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, and his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He taught Spanish at University of Maine, then transferred to the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he became a full professor.
On March 3-5, 2008, the Kutztown University chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State Colleges and University Faculties (APSCUF) planned to hold a vote of "no confidence" [1] in Cevallos. This follows almost two months of public discussion of Cevallos's job performance. On February 14, 2008, APSCUF-KU Representative Council voted 45-15 (with 4 abstentions) to proceed with a vote of no confidence. On Sunday, March 2, 2008, the vote of no confidence was suspended for thirty days after President Cevallos sent a letter [2]to the University acknowledging some problems and offering a meeting to the faculty union. APSCUF-KU set up a meeting with Cevallos for Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 in hopes of reaching agreement on concrete measures to resolve the problems listed in the bill of particulars [3].
Dr. F. Javier Cevallos has two children, Alex and Caroline, who attend Kutztown Area School District.
