[edit] Image copyright tags

Thanks for uploading Image:TaylorRain.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status?

For instance, if you own the image, you can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL. Or, should you wish to claim fair use, use the {{fairuse}} tag. There are, of course, other tags as well.

Also, when you tag the page, please include a source (such as a URL of a website), so that we can verify its copyright status.

If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thank you and enjoy the Wikipedia! -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. 13:51, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Knottsdon.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Knottsdon.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Pagrashtak 05:29, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Brea_bennett.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Brea_bennett.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:18857M.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:18857M.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 00:22, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:18857M.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:18857M.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:22, 25 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 00:22, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Signing your name on talk pages.

Hey there. Per Wikipedia:Signatures, it's proper to sign your name at the end of comments on talk pages. To do this, put a ~~~~ at the end of your message. Remember, this is only necessary on talk pages, and never appropriate in articles themselves. Thanks. Ichibani utc 00:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sid Haig and sources

I'm not the one who removed your sources, and I don't agree with it either, but the reason why the other user removed them was because for some reason WP doesn't consider actors' 'official' pages to be legit sources. If you can find the information in other articles (like interviews) we can add those.--CyberGhostface 20:30, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Websites like platinum-celebs.com, actorsofhollywood.com, imdb.com, dragoncon.org, etc. cannot be used as sources. Newspapers, magazines, books -- sources of that nature are appropriate. WP:RS will give you an idea of what is an acceptable source. The Sid Haig article has had a long troubled history with inappropriate sources. Quatloo 00:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your efforts, F13nd, but Quatloo seems to have some sort of fetish with Sid Haig not being allowed to have a page here. Seems no source is good enough for her taste, and the Admins seem to go along with it. Why, I have no idea. That's why I gave up on this site, and so has Sid.75.82.3.135 04:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Loughran.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Loughran.jpg, by Swakeman (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Loughran.jpg fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

This is a photograph of a film screening, which is not fair use...

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Loughran.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 10:24, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Loughran.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Loughran.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Proposed deletion of Marc Diamond

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Marc Diamond, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? TubularWorld (talk) 15:49, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
