Fatima Guedes is a Brazilian singer and composer. She started to write poems at nine, and at 15, she taught herself the violão (acoustic guitar). At 18, she participated in a festival at Colégio Helio Alonso. The jury, formed by Maria Bethânia, Paulo César Pinheiro, Hermínio Bello de Carvalho, and Roberto Moura granted her the Passional awards for best lyrics, music, and interpretation. Her first album was released in 1979, "Fátima Guedes". With "Mais Uma Boca," she disputed the festival MPB/Shell on l980 and recorded the second "Fátima Guedes" featuring her first "big hit" that year "Cheiro de Mato" . Her "Lápis de Cor" album (1981) was praised by critics. In 1983, she released "Muito Prazer", which had "Absinto," followed by "Sétima Arte" (1985). "Pra Bom Entendedor" had compositions by Guinga/Aldir Blanc. Three of her songs were nominated for the 1996 Sharp prize, two from "Grande Tempo": "Minha Nossa Senhora" and "Sem Saída." ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
