Eyeball Records

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eyeball Records is a independent record label based in Northern New Jersey, formed in 1995 by Alex Saavedra. They have released albums by artists such as Thursday, My Chemical Romance and Murder by Death. Since these bands have become wildly popular among modern music fans, the label has earned a reputation for discovering talent.

Eyeball Records also has an imprint label Astro Magnetics, which is owned by Eyeball Records manager Marc Debiak, Alex Saavedra and Thursday's Geoff Rickly.

Eyeball Records is also home to the prominent Eyeball Alliance, a team full of dedicated fans supporting and promoting the label through online and guerilla marketing.

On April 17, 2007, Eyeball Records shut down popular music piracy blog Knixtion (which is a site where people upload CDs' then uploading them on RapidShare, etc.) by sending a comical letter to its webmaster. The webmaster deleted the blog and sent an apologetic letter to the label. Eyeball Records also sent a letter to many peer labels in an effort to fight music piracy.[1]
