I've deleted the reference to this being the first non-Indo-European song to be sung. Finland began participating in 1961 and their entry was in Finnish, a Finno-Uguric language, and in 1971, Malta participated, singing in Maltese, an Afro-Asiatic language, and like Hebrew, Semitic.
