[edit] Purpose
If a video is available online, but cannot be uploaded to Wikipedia, it may be appropriate to use {{externalvideo}} to provide a direct link to download the video of sufficient quality and a (referenced) description of what the video shows.
{{externalvideo}} should be removed as soon as an adequate video is available in commons. (It is not adequate if the video in commons is not of sufficient quality.)
{{externalvideo}} can be used multiple times in an article, and each implementation of {{externalvideo}} can be used to link to more than one video.
[edit] Usage
{{externalvideo | align = | width = | video1 = | video2 = | ... }}
[edit] Parameters
- align: Alignment of the container box on the page - left/right/center (optional)
- width: Width of the container box, e.g. 300px (optional)
- video1, video2, etc.: Link to external video with description. Try to link to the URL of the video itself rather than the page that contains it if possible. and add a reference with a link to the whole page where the video is from and the date when you retrieved it
