Talk:Extreme Dreams With Ben Fogle

I am deleted the beginning paragraph. It reads like promo for the production company. It seems to have very little to do with the programmes content. Alan Holyday 08:51, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Neutrality
I don't think that the characterisation of this program is fair.
There is no doubt that the program dramtises events on the treks, but it is also clear that the treks are dangerous. I feel that the article should be 'toned down' - perhaps by reducing the emphasis on the hyperbole.
I'll leave this here for a week or so and then do an edit if no one else comments. Paddy (talk) 22:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Paddy , do you mean the Hyperbole on the Hyperbole ?! I think something needs to be said. It's quite clear that the BBC would never put these people into real life or death situations (think of the lawsuits) and there is always help relatively close at hand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.64.134.222 (talk) 13:48, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I've toned down the promo stuff substantially, on Ricochet (worst had already been removed) and Trekforce (heavy advertising!). Found that both bits come from Trekforce website so whether copied from them or posted by them, shouldn't be here. Maintained the main points of it though and linked to relevant Trekforce page. Tidied and added to the criticism - now more balanced with the rest of it; references needed but this stuff is widely commented and fairly obvious from the show. However could probably do with more work. Tarmachan (talk) 20:16, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Having worked with the Ricochet filming team and designed two programmes for them I strongly agree with the criticism levelled. Nevetheless the programme makes for good watching and is popular. Sadly the impression I have is that there is a deliberate policy to take weak or unsuitable individuals (as well as stronger ones) in order to guarantee some drama even though it is highly contrived in some cases.
