This is a list of the extreme points of South America, the points that are farther north, south, east or west than any other location on the continent. The continent's southernmost point is often said to be Cape Horn, which is the southernmost point of the coastal Chilean islands.

- Northernmost point: Punta Gallinas, Colombia ( 12°27′30.48″N, 71°39′53.02″W)
- Southernmost point: Águila Islet, Diego Ramirez Islands, Chile ¹
- Westernmost point: Darwin Island, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador ( 01°40′43.50″N, 92°00′32.96″W) ²

- ² If Easter Island is included as part of South America, then the nearby islet of Motu Nui is the westernmost point.
- ³ If the South Sandwich Islands are included as part of South America, then Montagu Island, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands is the easternmost point ( 58°25′00″S, 26°23′00″W).
