[edit] Tani participation

It appears the participation of Daniel M. Tani in Expedition 15 is now unlikely. If Soyuz TMA-11 arrives on schedule with Peggy Whitson, and Fyodor Yurchikhin departs on schedule aboard Soyuz TMA-10, Tani will arrive during the interval of Expedition 16. Is there a NASA or Roscosmos source that confirms this? Sdsds 04:23, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Au contraire, it is very likely now that Anderson will launch with STS-117 and Tani with STS-118. Hektor 15:24, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
It still doesn't make sense. Regarding Anderson, today's press release[1] reads:"Discovery is scheduled to bring him home during the STS-120 mission, targeted for launch Oct. 20." So Tani still launches on STS-120 to replace Anderson, and thus arrives while Whitson is in command of the station. But it also explicitly says he will be joining Expedition 15. How does that work, without delaying the Soyuz exchange as well? (Sdsds - Talk) 06:27, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Further, from the current text of the NASA description of STS-120[2]: "Expedition 15/16 Flight Engineer Clayton Anderson will return to Earth from the space station aboard shuttle mission STS-120. That flight will carry his replacement, Daniel Tani, to the station." This acknowledges that Anderson will participate in Expedition 16, ergo Tani will *not* participate in Expedition 15.
