Expedition To The Ruins of Greyhawk is both a large, hardcover module set in the fictional World of Greyhawk campaign setting, and the first background source material published for the otherwise out-of-print setting since the 1998 publication of Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins. This story is tangentially related to the Greyhawk Wars and events from the Living Greyhawk campaigns during 2006 which dealt with the non-player character Rary, the traitorous arch-mage. While Rary's accomplice, Robilar makes an appearance, Rary himself does not. The story involves a return to the setting of one of the original dungeon crawls in role-playing game history: the dungeons under the ruins of Castle Greyhawk, the former home of the mad mage, Zagyg who later ascended to demigodhood.
