An examinations officer is a staff member in a school, college or other educational institution in the United Kingdom who is responsible for the administration of examinations in the establishment.
Prior to September 2005, examinations officers were likely to be teaching staff in the establishment. In September, 2005, however, new workforce regulations were passed that release teachers from non-teaching and planning work.[citation needed] As a result, they could no longer work as examinations officers, and so examinations officers would be employed as stand-alone staff.
