A chained sequence of samples from 4 different tracks (Section 5), 1995

Rationale for fair use

This 2 minutes clip contains 4 samples illustrating the evolution of the drum and bass sound. All samples feature the same vocals by Barrington Levy but from 4 different tracks.

These tracks are: Tribal Base by Rebel MC Feat. Barrington Levy (Desire Records 1991) Here I come (Jungle) by Jah Screw & Barrington Levy - Here I come (Jungle) (Greensleeve Records 1995) Here I come (G Funk Remix) by XTC & DJ Keen Nottingham, Jah Screw & Barrington Levy (Greensleeve Records 1995) Tribal Natty by Aphrodite (Congo Natty 2005)

The sample is used for the purposes of criticism and comment on the article on drum & bass. It is intended, in the context of scholarship, to inform the reader of the sound of drum & bass music while not displacing the original products.

According to section 107 of the United States Copyright Act of 1976:

The fair use of a copyrighted work...for purposes such as criticism, comment,...scholarship...is not an infringement of copyright.  [1]

The clip is used for non-profit purposes and represents only a fraction of the actual works. These two factors are noted as relevant by the Act.
