Why do you say you don't look 20? You look 20 to me. Do you think you look older, or younger? --Angr/tɔk tə mi 19:50, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[user:The Watcher] No im not CJ2005B or his friend] i was just sticking up for someone i think your giving a hard time.

Would you say that this, this, this, this, this, this and this are not vandalism? This user was warned, but removed them. He was then warned again but continued. Evil MonkeyHello 11:16, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)

Hello

I cut and and paste to give me a start I hadn't finsihed editing it out yet. I'm trying to update some Oxford Academics of note. I am a personal friend of both the Dr's you accuse me of infringing ox.chem's page, it's their work, I'm their friend.

I only used it for a starting point - publication references and titles etc. I was surprised someone jumped onto them while I was still working on them.

I have just had official permission from ox.chem to use their info about Dr David Hodgson, if you like I can forward the email, please do not report the temp update as infringed copyright because it isn't - User:Wiki alf.

Some form of belated apology here: I realise now that you were being a diligent editor. At the time I did not understand that all pages of articles are kept and the problems copyright causes. I also understand the undefined notability aspect of contributions better. I was a friend in G. E. M. Anscombe and Peter Geach's household in Cambridge and thought articles on Lynne and David (now been deleted) were appropriate. I understand I went about it the wrong way and intend to write new articles on David and Lynne, when I can balance the original research and sourcing aspects. Thank you for your anti-vandalism efforts

Thank you for reverting the trail of vandalism left behind by 64.12.116.*. Unfortunately the attacks are coming from an AOL IP block so there probably isn't much that can be done about it other than reverting their childish efforts. Hall Monitor 04:37, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Blocked -- AOL is the culprit, not me!

Notice below:

You have attempted to edit a page, either by clicking the "edit this page" tab or by following a red link.

Your user name or IP address has been blocked by Evil Monkey.

The reason given is this: Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "NickBush24cangodie". The reason given for NickBush24cangodie's block is: "username block".

You can email Evil Monkey or one of the other administrators to discuss the block. You may also edit your user talk page if you wish. If you believe that our blocking policy was violated, you may discuss the block publicly on the WikiEN-l mailing list. Note that you may not use the "email this user" feature unless you have a Wikipedia account and a valid email address registered in your user preferences.

Your IP address is 207.200.116.197. Please include this address, along with your username, in any queries you make.

Please look over my talk page, particularly the most recent blocking incident. Because I am an AOL user, my IP number is not under my control. I have repeated problems being blocked for other's sins. The most recent decision is that this number should not be blocked. Please release me! Thank you. (and, no, I don't know why I can edit your talk page and not other things.) WBardwin 08:09, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

:relevant statement from my talk page:

The IP mentioned is an AOL cache proxy and should not be blocked for any length of time. I did some probing in the range and it seems to be wholly or mostly comprised of caches, so I added the range to the exclusion list. We can always narrow it down if that should be necessary, but better safe than sorry. JRM · Talk 22:31, 2005 Jun 24 (UTC)
Thanks -- seems ok for now! WBardwin

Blocked again -- another Username block "Redwolf24isgay". . Come on -- I'd like to get some work done! WBardwin 08:50, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. I know the block is not directed at me personally, but that does not make it any less annoying. Particularly when I just have a small window of time to work. And it makes me feel somewhat helpless as my IP is completely beyond my control as long as I am with AOL. I wish Wiki would come up with some way to target specific users, but that may never be. Thanks for your efforts on the vandals, (sigh). WBardwin 17:25, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

9/11 VfD

Hi Evil Monkey. A while ago you voted to get rid of a list of people who died in the September 11 attacks, and this has since been moved over to the memorial wiki. I've found some more articles on fairly non-notable victims and put them on VfD here with the aim of getting them transwikied, if you want to take a look. — Trilobite (Talk) 05:59, 15 July 2005 (UTC)

...but wait, there's more! This made me think of the dreaded Comunleng VfD for some reason, I think it was around the same time as the casualty list VfD, and so I've put that up for VfD again here. It had to happen eventually, that article should never have survived. — Trilobite (Talk) 06:26, 15 July 2005 (UTC)

Younger Pretenders?

WE SAY IN REPLY....to Vardion & the evil revisionsist reverters.

The McGillicuddy party history has been hijacked & santised by vicious editing practises and reversions. back to politically sanitsed template.....we are here to stay.

Vardion has been asked not to refer to the Party in the past tense and the recent edits seem politically motivated. The first instance being the quote to replace MP's with hot air machines. Sorry, simply not funny.

Likewise, the reference to "Younger Pretenters" is incorrect, with the spokespersons in our last press release having collectively stood for Parliament 6 times with the continuing support of their electorates.

Simply because Laird Cairns decides to end his involvement with our party in a public humiliatian ritual does not confer on him the right to terminate the membership for life of the southern clan McGillicuddy. Likewise Natioial did'nt die a total death when Rob Muldoon dropped off the planet.

If you and Vardion have an issue with content, please name your sources, otherwise further edits will be noted. Thank you..and good luck with your attemp to edit serious articles about sillyness.

I'm disappointed that you would assume an article was a falsehood before checking.

There is a russian baritone by the name of alexander podolkhov who has done multiple noted performances on the operatic stage, and appears on a large number of compilation CDs.

Vandalism?

I'm back again with an important question. I just got this message- "This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia." Don't know who it came from. I haven't received any previous warnings. I haven't vandalized anything, unless you'd count the rewrite of Constitution of Turkey; I also just restored the text for Chocolate Frog (Harry Potter) after it was blanked, but it's at VfD so I thought that would make things easier. What does this mean? Please help. CanadianCaesar 03:56, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Article: Motorola i930

Thanks for curbing some of the vandalism for me, if I didn't know it, then the Motorola i930 would've been toast.

Since then, I had to lock the article in order to curb up some of the vandalism that I'm alleging, since due to the following:

Comment on this IP address.

You left a message on the talk page for this IP address, I was wondering if you had the means to block this IP from editing wikipedia articles.

This is a school in Canberra Australia and I have encountered many instances of students vandalising Wikipedia. It would be better for the community and the students if we were unable to edit pages. Thank you.

Admin out of control

Under exactly what authority does UninvitedCompany think he can unilaterally permanently ban users, and destroy their user pages, and protect their talk pages so that they can't respond? - [2]

It should be noted that the alleged images were listed at User:Evil Monkey/Nudity as well as being considered entirely appropriate for articles, having, as far as I can tell, already survived IFD, and have been on Wikipedia for over a month.

Note that an arbcom case has only just opened and has by no means come down with even remotely any penalty such as a ban. UninvitedCompany seems to think he has greater authority than ArbCom, and can completely act outside it.

Does UninvitedCompany has infinite power and permission to unilaterally with impunity?

Particularly when the user/victim in question has challanged a prior abuse of adminship by UninvitedCompany in an RfC, and has diametrically opposed political opinions?

This seems to be a case of right wing evangelical Christian admins thinking they have the right to dictate to everyone else.

It also seems in contempt of the arbitration committee's right to make the decision.

Chinese space program

Hi there. I'm systematically trying to fill out all of the links on the Chinese space program page. It's lonely work and unfortunately the Chinese government is refusing my pleas for help ;). I was hoping another user could go over things as I add them and/or make additions of their own. Your work here seems related. Please check my main page if you're interested. The Space Program of China page itself could use a lot of work and expansion; I think its just a cut and paste from the net. Take care. Marskell 09:17, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

I worked on the Shenzhou articles which for 1 through 4 were just copy and pastes from NSSDC. And my guess is the Chinese won't say much about what is going on. From what I understand the PLA run the space program so they are going to be secretive. Anyway I might have a look at this in a week or so (I'm going on holiday for week). Edit war in progress

Could you take a look at the article Richard Stallman, where several anons and users created solely for this article (and with names very similar to genuine editors of the article) are constantly reinserting a criticism section. I have no problems with the idea of a criticism section, but this one makes little sense. Do you know what if anything "bloviation" means? There's discussion on the talk page about it, but no one is making any rational argument for keeping the criticism. A Request For Comment got me involved, but no else has come to help. Perhaps the page should be protected.-gadfium 22:54, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Dealth Penalty

So, you like to write about the death penalty? Well, if you wish, we could work on Death Penalty in Belarus. It is allowed, based on http://www.belarusembassy.org/humanitarian/criminalcode.htm, but I am not sure what organizations you read on discused Belarus at all. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 20:03, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

I'll look into it. I remember seeing that Amnesty and other organisations make special mention of Belarus because it is one of only two (Latvia still have it for use during wartime) countries in Europe that still have the death penalty. Probably have to wait until Thursday at the earliest due to school work, but a good idea. I take it you are trying to basically have a huge repository of Belarussian articles? Hello Evil Monkey,

You reworded the Did You Know entry, and now it's not gramatically correct:

Ultralight aircraft

Hi Evil,

Are you sure you're right about the USA having few restrictions on Ultralights? Reading the text in this topic, the USA has one of the tightest restrictions including low limits on fuel capacity and a low top speeed... characteristics that are not restricted in most coutries at all. However, the USA 'Light sport aircraft' are a lot closer to other countriies ultralights/microlights, is this what you were referring to?

You're doing a lot of good work on the Wiki!

Cheers,

Playboy covers

Hi, Just wondering if you could further explain your reasoning behind removing the images of Playboy magazine covers from several articles. Is there some guideline that says we can't use them? Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 06:20, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Evil Monkey, I think you got confused by the semantics of the magazine cover fair use tag. The language "to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question" does not restrict such usage to articles that are about the magazine title itself, but only states that the image must still function as a magazine cover, i.e., must be directly identifiable as the cover to that issue. This is made clear by the following language that the magazine title must be "either visible on the image itself or written in the image description above." Obviously such covers will most often be used to illustrate the subject of the cover, with the magazine itself being secondary to an editor's purpose. However, as long as that image is in fact identifiable as a magazine cover, it is illustrating the publication.

Please note the fair use tag for comic book covers and comic book panels, which clearly state that they may be used to illustrate the character depicted. My interpretation of the magazine cover fair use is clearly consistent with these template tags. Also, please note that we have a separate template just for TIME magazine covers, of which there are over 200 scans on Wikipedia. Template:TIME is obviously not just for tagging images illustrating the TIME magazine article itself.

I could go into an elaboration of the fair use legal argument as well, but I hope at least that I've shown that your interpretation of the magazine cover fair use tag is contrary to common understanding and usage, and not at all dictated by its text. I am going to replace all the images you removed on this basis. Postdlf 07:38, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

No problem, I stand corrected. I still think however many are not low resolution. For instance Image:Playboy March 2005.jpg is 1600x2145 and 1660 KB. To me this is not a low resolution image. Evil MonkeyHello 07:42, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
You're right, that image isn't, so I corrected that one and a few others you had found. Even the most basic graphic editors have the ability to quickly alter an image's size (I just used Paint, which is much quicker to load than Photoshop), so this is something anyone can help with. Postdlf 08:04, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Image:Rae07 b.jpg

you left a (presumably form) message on my talk page saying this image lacked a copyright tag. But...it doesn't. It has a promotional/fair use tag. You are correct in that it doesn't have a source. I added some information about the source to the image page; it is a promotional image released by the record company for the media to use to illustrate articles, reviews etc. If you're asking for the web address where I found that specific file, I can't tell you as I didn't keep a record of where I found it; but that's irrelevant as that site would just have been using the image in the same fair use manner as I'm attempting to use it on Wikipedia. --Jamieli 12:38, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
