Evgeni Valerievich Aldonin (Russian: Евгений Валериевич Алдонин born January 22, 1980 in Kiev, USSR) is a Russian football player who plies his trade with CSKA Moscow. The defensive midfielder makes defense his top priority and he is strong in the tackle with a rugged nature. Aldonin started out with SC Rotor Volgograd. He is similar to his predecessor, Alexey Smertin in that he is a hard working player who can tackle well, pass accurately, shoot from distance and is a natural born leader.
He played for Russia in the 2004 European Football Championship.
He has also started a musical career in which he releases cover albums of such bands as ABBA, The Beetles and Queen. On the 15th of August, 2006 Aldonin was selected by Russia's coach Guus Hiddink to be the captain of the National team for the friendly against Latvia which took place on the August 16, 2006.
