[edit] Misc

Eve doesn't want her real name in her information, it is her privacy that is at risk so why do you keep putting it back? Also Eve's official fanlisting that she collaborated with to get started and frequently visits keeps getting taken down, please stop this.

  • Why did it keep getting put back? Because no-one said why it was being removed in the first place <g>. Seriously, if you look at the edit history you'll see that not one of your edits mention what was being done or why it was being done. I just took it as being vandalism and reverted it on that basis. Since you've mentioned why it was being done, I'll stop undoing your edits regarding the name. Now the fanlisting is a whole different category of fish. Official websites are definately allowed for a given porn star, as well as MySpace sites that are done by the star. Unofficial websites get pulled out as non-encyclopedic, as well as commercial sites that offer to sell their videos. An official fanlisting is a horse of a different color, and I'm not inclined at this point to say that it should remain on the page. Tabercil 04:27, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

She collaborates with it and it is an official fanlisting. I've got permission from Eve herself and she's contributed pictures for it. She wants to make sure her fans are getting what they need.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not in the business of promotion; if Wikipedia is "promoting" someone, then it's by accident and not by design. Also, Wikipedia is not a collection of links, and links included in articles should be evaluated with care. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 00:00, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Date conflict

Umm, I don't know the actual facts, but:

"Eve began nude modeling at the age of 18, and was signed to the talent agency L.A. Direct Models later that same year (2003)."

and

"She was born there on 4 October 1986."

Are in conflict with each other :)

[edit] Leaving the industry

Word is that Eve has left or is leaving the industry. Word? RandomEcho 04:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Comment moved from article to talk page

Eve Laurence is no longer associated with "clubevelaurence.com" her new site will be launched at evelaurence.com with in the next week. 2/18/07 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.226.214.45 (talk) 10:22, 1 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Citing infobox data

I noticed the infobox was full of "cite needed" tags. All of the info there now is sourceable to either IMDb or IAFD; it seems unnecessary to include actual reference citations for this, as it seems fairly obvious, and it also makes the infobox ugly to have a cite on every line... Thoughts? Valrith 12:56, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

There has been an issue about Laurence's actual name, and it being referenced in the IMDb. Besides the opening comment about her personal information, I am concerned about how reliable IMDb is when it comes to biographical information. Similar to Wikipedia, users create the biographis at IMDb, and they do not vouch for the accuracy of each one. Of course there are sources that state ther real name, but none of them are verifiable by Wikipedia standards. As that policy says: "verifabily, not truth". Unless a major news source inside or outside the industry, or Eve's official website can reveal that name, we can't add it. --wL<speak·check> 04:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Bullshit. You can't question the reliability of a section of a site; either IMDb is reliable as a source or it's not. And if it's not, then we need to remove a hell of a lot of material from WP. Valrith 03:35, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm not even going to say it. Based on attribution rules is IMDb's biography section a reliable source? --wL<speak·check> updated 08:05, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, unless you can show me a policy somewhere I've overlooked. Valrith 21:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Folks, chill. For now, I suggest leaving the name out. I'm trying to get clarification from someone higher up the Wikipedia ladder (hint: initials are J.W.) about using IMDB as a source for real names, but until then can we please leave this alone? Tabercil 23:35, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

K... this looks like the best I'm gonna get from Jimbo on this topic. From his email to me regarding using IMDB as a source:

Is there any better source than the IMDB article? IMDB relies on user-contributed content, and I see no reason why it would count as a remotely valid source in this case. If there is a valid source (newspaper, magazine, book?) then I would assume it can be introduced no problem. But as it stands now, we are likely to simply be echoing someone's smear campaign against someone else entirely if we just quote IMDB.

Note that the original topic of discussion was regarding Aurora Snow's real name, but the same logic would apply for Eve folks. Tabercil 22:32, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

That's what I assumed as well. IMDB's biographies can be written as open as Wikipedia. I was going to put an example of how IMDB could be used in a detremental way to Wikipedia, but it would be tantamount to telling people not to stuff beans up their noses. On an off-topic note, I've whoised the IPs of those who have made signifigant changes in the spirit of WP:LIVING#Dealing_with_edits_by_the_subject_of_the_article. Most of them come from a Comcast provider around the Baltamore area. [1] [2] [3] Could it be safe to say that Eve visits/edits Wikipedia as well? --wL<speak·check> 20:21, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Possibly. Given that the Baltimore metropolitan area has a population of 2.6 million, what are the odds that a given person editing is Eve? Or merely someone else in that city making the edits?? Tabercil 21:18, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Most likely someone who knows (about) her. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eve_Laurence&diff=prev&oldid=102312748 this is the diff that got me thinking]... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WikiLeon (talkcontribs) 21:31, 15 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Still Active

Hey all,

Eve's website is active and continously updated. Her blog is also updated with her recent activities, including info about live webcasts, discussion about films, and new manager. I updated the page to reflect this, but an overzealous user removed the post (we discussed it, and unfortunately, he doesn't seem to knowledgeable about porn actresses and referencing their active websites in wikipedia). If anyone feels that it was an appropriate addition, please feel free to include the information on this page. The changes were as follows:

Her current website, as stated in an interview,[1] demonstrates such recent work, including updated pictures live webcasts and a journal. [2]

I think the issue of not including the above phrase stems from the use of clubevelaurence.com. I think it might be better to reference the exact blog posts that shows that she is current and active. I think that there is more than adequate proof that Wikipedia policy does not exclude an adult actresses' official site as a reference link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.189.245.118 (talk) 06:02, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removing the prod notice

I've gone ahead and removed the prod notice since the subject has been the recipient of an award nomination from AVN, which falls under criteria #1 of the pornography actor notability guidelines. I will also note that this article has undergone two article for deletion nominations since the beginning of this year, both resulting in a keep vote. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 02:25, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Angelfallsent

A user named Angelfallsent has recently edited the article to change the link to her official site to http://www.evelawrence.biz/ as well as replace the hiatus section with a comment about how she has not left the industry; those edits have been reverted. Now the things that strike me about these edits are that they come from a username that is short for "Angel Falls Entertainment", the company that represents Laurence. [4] The other is how the site this user linked to looks much like the one at http://www.evelaurence.com/. I'm not sure if this is an impostor or not. --wL<speak·check> 08:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
